One Room Challenge: Wk.8
This last week of @oneroomchallenge has been a sprint to the finish line! And believe me, at 70 I don’t do sprints, but wow, there was no time to spare.
Most everything came together, and every day the excitement kept building.
✳️The electrician hung the Fandolier, and I know I keep saying it, but boy do I love it.
✳️I added the door stops and installed door handles to the screen door.
✳️Did a bit more framing work and coated the last post with preservative.
✳️Shopped until I dropped for a chair throw, decorative pillows, another piece of art, plants, and accessories.
✳️Wasn’t happy with the gray wall color so took the leftover paint and added a little white to lighten it and a tiny bit of a dark coffee bean color to warm it up. It worked! The second coat in the warmer color made all the difference and my daughter loves it. Me too!
✳️She ran a few last-minute errands for me today while I took care of all the leftover details including chalk painting a ceramic pot, glazing a shadow box frame, and waxing two cool gray ottomans to a warmer greige tone to name a few.
Today reminded me of a moving day, when you think you’re done and ready to go and you’re not, because there’s still so many random things to pack and a toilet to clean.
But then came the final push to pull the space together and photograph it before the sun went down at 5:00! It was a little crazy but we made it and even ate dinner al fresco w/ a Prosecco toast to the Challenge.
BTW- Pressure treated framing will be painted white when dry and screens installed.
What a life changing experience this has been. After moving my Dad in with me and caring for him for 7 yrs as he struggled with Alz, then struggling w/ illness myself after he passed, I became very depressed and lost. Doing the ORC gave me purpose again, made me feel relevant at 70, reawakened my love for design, and introduced me to a wonderful group of DIYers who have been so kind and supportive.
Am so grateful for all of you and hope to “meet” again for Spring 2022 ORC.
