One Room Challenge: Wk.7

Feel like I blinked and Week 7 was over! The weather improved and so did I.

Framed out screen porch wall. Discovered that I had to add a 1x4 to the 2x4 top plate to increase thickness in order to install Screen Tight tracks. About Ā½ā€ of 2x4 is concealed by a ledger board on the outside so tracks wonā€™t fit without extra piece of wood. Problem is how to address boards that donā€™t look so great sandwiched together from the inside? Have to think on that. Any ideas out there?

And above the screen door thereā€™s very little space for screening so how do I fill that gap? Maybe make a beachy sign of some kind? a

Was derailed for a half day because of a dead battery. I think the universe was telling me to slow down so nothing else got done but thinking.

Got back in the swing of things the next day and thought I was doing great until it came to nailing in the wood detail strip around the room. Hammering nails is not my forte. Got it done but my miserable eye-hand coordination was not pretty. I figure thereā€™s nothing a little wood putty and caulk canā€™t fix right?

To cap the week, painted the 2nd coat on ceiling only to discover halfway through it that I was using the wrong color blue. A few choice words were uttered and then got right back at it using the right paint. Ended day painting the porch floor for the win!

Overall am pleased with this weekā€™s progress. Coming up in Week 8 ā€¦

Electrician installs Fandolier.
Paint 2nd coat on walls.
Paint white trim/screen door.
Install screen door handle.
Install furniture and dƩcor.

Unfortunately, cannot install Screen Tight tracks until framing is painted white. But canā€™t paint framing until pressure treated wood dries out which could be a couple of months. Oops. Never factored that in. Hoping for a January thaw but could be spring before it happens.

So excited about the upcoming reveal. And wishing everyone at
www.oneroomchallenge.com a smooth last lap. Youā€™ve got this!
